55th REUNION
55th REUNION

From Reunion Coordinator Hap Lamberth - Latest Information on the Reunion:

All you Panthers,

First, registration is now closed for the AHS 56 55th reunion activities being held on September 16-18th, 2011.   As previously announced:  Whatever events and services you may have wished to be part of must have been paid for observing the Sep 2nd deadline.  We do not have any way of handling cash at the reunion, and also will not accept a check from anyone there having previously been "invited" by either by the USPS (snail mail) or email.  The name badges will be coded to identify events and services paid for.  However, we are accepting the registrations that were mailed/called-in over the last week or so, or as otherwise dribbled in by Sep 3rd.

For those not having already booked needed rooms at the Senior rate, we have backstopped availability with a block of rooms available from Thurs thru Sun nights.  Space is limited, so first come - first served.  Just call the hotel at  915+779-3300 and ask for the AHS-1956 room block rate.

Further, will have a professional videographer around both the Marriott and the CCC doing his thing during events and in-between too.  He may try to do some remote interviews over the internet with Skype for those not attending.  Please let us know if you would like to have a remote interview.  He does the collection work at no charge and sells the video collection for $25 a copy.  May have a boogie or two from the dancing!!  Also, please be advised there will be no program with classmate participation either Fri or Sat.  A few announcements and acknowledgments will be made both Friday and Saturday nites.  Please send me any short announcements you may have.  We will also have a bulletin board in the hospitality suite at the Marriott.

The reunion activities are planned as follows for those registered:

On Friday, there will be three activities, as follows:

1.  8:30AM - No host/dutch Grade School Classes Breakfast at the Marriott.  No event charge - see lobby schedule board for location.

2.  10AM-3PM - Guided bus tour of the city is planned including a tour of the neighborhood area around the AHS feeder grade schools including AHS.  Most of what can now be called the city center will be along the route with a loop around most of present city urban area.  Hopefully, those unaware of the city's growth in the last 55 years will get a feel for the expansion as a part of this tour.  We will stop for a dutch Mexican food lunch around Noon.  Prepaid $30 event fee required.

3.  6PM-11PM - "Mixer" gathering beginning at 6P, followed by a "cook out" style buffet served at 6:30-7:30PM in the Marriott ballroom.  A no-host cash bar will be available.  The Bob Burns Band will play three 45 minute sets from 7:45-10:45 PM.  The band will play a wide variety of music for both listening and dancing.  Also, a videographer will be roaming obtaining interviews.  Prepaid $25 event fee required.

On Saturday, a 6PM-11PM Dinner-Dance is scheduled at the Coronado Country Club (CCC).

Note:  With Fri night probably going on late, and Sat night coming early, no other activity has been scheduled, leaving the rest of the day as free time for chilling & mingling in and around the hotel, hospitality suite, wherever, whenever.

Mingling begins at 6PM, with a buffet dinner served at the CCC from 7-to-8 PM including coffee, tea, and soft drinks.  A no-host cash bar will be available.  A professional photographer will be set up and both portrait and candid  pictures will be taken.  There will be some brief announcements following dinner and Mike (Malcolm) Newbill will be providing the "DJ" support with his famous 50's music selection.  Prepaid $35 event fee required.

A bus for shuttle service on Sat evening is planned for a total of four round trips from the Marriott to the CCC for those having paid for the service.  The first two trips will depart the Marriott at 5:15PM & 6:15PM then waiting at the CCC.  A trip back to the Marriott will be made at 10PM, & the last leaves the CCC at 11PM. Prepaid $20 ride fee required.

On Sunday, there will be two activities, as follows:

1. Breakfast or Brunch at the Marriott for those interested, anytime it suits you and your breakfast companions.  But, if you're taking the Bus Tour to New Mexico, be ready to be on the bus by 9:00AM.
No event charge.
