Sue Ann passed away peacefully at her home in El Paso, Texas, on
April 23, 2012, after a long struggle with cancer. Sue Ann was born on December 17, 1938 in El Paso, to Kenneth and Anna De Shazo. She attended Austin High School, and married Billy Hugh Joyner soon after graduation. Sue Ann and Billy were married until her death, 56 years. Spiritual, light-hearted, fun loving and empathetic were words that best described Sue Ann. Her life was punctuated by her many interests which included her cherished friends, arts & crafts, floral arranging, nature, animals, and especially her music. Her home was always full of friends (new and old) and the sounds of laughter and music. Sue Ann was happiest when working on her music and playing the piano. During her lifetime, she wrote many songs, some of which were included in her screenplay entitled "Patmos: A Message to Mankind" which was a production based upon the book of Revelation from the Bible. Although Sue Ann was a long-time resident of El Paso, she also lived for a time in Roswell, New Mexico, and later in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She treasured the friendships that she made throughout her life and was able to make a significant contribution to the lives of the people who considered her a friend. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her keen ability to see beauty and goodness in everyone and everything around her, for her humor, her creativity, her sensitivity, and her kind and gentle spirit. Sue Ann was pre-deceased by her parents and her first son, Kenneth Dean Joyner. She is survived by her husband Bill, her sons Greg and Todd, and six grandsons.
