Frank's daughter Natalie sent this information about her Dad's life:
Frank was born
in El Paso, attended Austin High School and graduated from UTEP (University of
Texas at El Paso). He and Pat married in 1961, and he was drafted for 2
years into the National Security Agency. Their first child Natalie was
born, and the family moved to Palms, California, where Frank worked at CMC, a
computer start-up, and second child Frank Scott McCallick was born. Frank then
attended UCLA and earned his Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences.
The family relocated to Encino, California and the two children
attended St. Cyril’s of Jerusalem School. Frank and Pat were active in the
school and parish, and Frank became an avid sailor. The family of four
spent summers at Catalina Island. A few years after the first two children
were born, Paul, the McCallick's third child, came along,
and when Paul was older, Frank and his youngest boy participated together in the
YMCA father and son program, Indian Guides. Frank was a devoted dad
to all his children and enjoyed family activities like bike rides, dinners
together, their boat trips and camping. He also liked to do yard work, was
active in his church, and his main hobbies were tennis and hunting.
Frank was employed at Citibank in upper level management and
earned a patent for the Automatic Bank Teller Machine when he adapted it to suit
the blind. Pat developed a career in teaching and daughter Natalie also
pursued a career in education; sons Frank Scott and Paul married, and
eventually four grandchildren were added to the McCallick family tree.
Frank and Pat retired to Ventura where he began to play golf,
continued to enjoy bike riding and cruising the coast with the family, and he
coordinated the Habitat for Humanity volunteers for his new parish, Our Lady of
Assumption Church. Pat became ill with cancer, and for eleven years, Frank
single-handedly cared for her until hospice was called in 3 weeks before she
died on March 14, 2010. They were married 49 years.
